Mediation
Mediation is a voluntary process in which a mediator works with the parties to help them resolve the issues in the case. The goal in mediation is to reach an agreement to resolve the case that is acceptable to all parties. Mediation is completely voluntary, and no one will force a party to settle a case unless the settlement is acceptable.
Experienced Mediator
A successful mediation requires an experienced and skilled mediator. As a Circuit Court Judge over the past 22 years, Judge Adler served as a mediator in hundreds of Judicial Settlement Conferences. In a Judicial Settlement Conference, a judge (who is not the trial judge in the case) conducts a mediation with the parties to help the parties resolve the disputed issues and reach a settlement agreement. Judge Adler served as a mediator in settlement conferences in a broad variety of cases over the years.
After retiring as a full time Circuit Court Judge, Judge Adler has been working as a mediator in civil and domestic relations cases. Judge Adler is an experienced, fair and effective mediator. His perspective as a trial Judge for 22 years is extremely valuable to help people resolve disputes and reach settlement agreements. For example, Judge Adler is able to give people a very good idea of how certain issues would probably be decided in court if the case is not settled.
Judge Adler is keenly aware of the difficult, complex, and emotional issues people are facing in civil and domestic relations cases. He is also aware of the significant risks and costs of litigation. He works very hard to help people resolve disputes and work towards an agreement acceptable to all parties.
